When I Was A Star Poem by Angelique Porter

When I Was A Star

She was underneath the sky. Grass touching her skin in a way that reminded her of him.
It was soft and warm.
The earth cradled her soft body in the darkness.

Under the moonlight, her muscles softened as if she was melting into the ground.
The World was holding her in the way he held her.
Completely.
Totally.

The stars could be seen by her, not for what they really were, but for how they appeared.
She wondered what they really looked like.
If they had looked this luminous and shiny up close.

They glowed brightly, while remaining a mystery.
Distant and intangible.
A wonder of the universe.

She also understood not feeling completely known by anyone. Being loved for what you appear to be.
For what you show,
but not for what you are deep inside.
This knowledge doesn't make her feel sad.
Not anymore.

Love has changed her in this way.
Appreciating all the parts of someone which they are willing to share.
She knows this is not done easily, or lightly.
To love and be loved is to have your skin exposed and bare.
You are vulnerable and the risk your fate, to have moments like she was now.
Memories of being been.

You become intertwined with another soul who's actions whisper softly, 'I love what I see.' Every day through their compassion, you feel the depth of their their desire.
This warms you to your core.
You have to live every day
Like the light will never go out.
