When In Love Poem by Enero Marlow

When In Love

When in love, flowers blossom
When in love, music plays
When in love, we are happy
I just hope it stayed that way.

But when you called it off and I was stranded by Waterloo,
I had one thought in my mind and that was what I wanted to do
To find you again and be able to say that I did that on my own,
Because, when in love all thoughts of independence are blown.

When in love, life is in technicolor
When in love, birds fly high in the sky
When in love, we skip down the streets
I just hope it stayed that way.

Thinking back, I didn't deserve it,
Being left alone by Waterloo Bridge.
Thinking back, I deserved someone better,
Someone more mature than you.

Back then, I enjoyed flings, and whirlwind romances,
Back then, I thought love would never end,
Back then, I was younger, and naive, and inquisitive
Now I am older, and now I understand.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The idea for this poem came from my recent experience - my whirlwind romance had been called off. I wrote about all my feelings during the romance, and how I was treated.
