When Last. Poem by James Duncan

When Last.

When last did you look into a map and in your mind
go wandering back.
And find again that hidden track that drew you from
your life.
And in a name that seemed the same
you saw the child you were.

When last did you pass a school
And within those rooms defined a fool
But you went ahead and broke their rule
And made yourself a life.

When last did you pass a church
And felt again that loving touch
But she left you in the lurch
And stole away your life.

When last did you pass a grave
And remember those who passed your way
And know you will share that day
And say goodby tyo life.
