When My Lover Cries
Inspired by "Khi Người Yêu Tôi Khóc"
When my beloved begins to cry,
The stars grow dim in the midnight sky.
Her tears fall softly, like autumn rain,
Each drop a whisper of hidden pain.
I wish I could hold the world at bay,
And chase every sorrow from her day.
But love is a rose with thorns concealed,
And some wounds take time before they heal.
When my beloved begins to cry,
My heart breaks quietly, though I know not why.
For words grow weak when feelings run deep,
And promises tremble when hearts cannot sleep.
If I could gather each tear she sheds,
I'd trade my dreams for the tears instead.
I'd be the shelter when storms draw near,
The arms that hold her, the heart that hears.
But love sometimes fades like the evening light,
Leaving two souls alone in the night.
And all that remains when the words are through
Is a heart still aching, still loving you.
So let the rain fall, let the night be long,
Let sorrow linger where love once belonged.
For even in heartbreak, one truth stays clear:
A piece of my soul will always be near.
And if you ask what hurts me the most,
It's not being alone, nor loving a ghost.
It's watching the one I love disappear,
And knowing I cannot stop her tears.
