When the Blue Meets the Gold
The blue above the Dnipro burns,
The wheat fields blaze beneath the sun;
Across the black earth, green shoots rise—
A thousand mornings, newly won.
Sunflowers turn their golden faces
Toward skies washed clean of smoke and rain;
Their petals tremble in the wind
Like little flags across the plain.
From Kyiv's hills, the bells ring out,
Across the roofs and chestnut trees;
And over Kharkiv's streets, the light
Moves softly through the evening breeze.
In Lviv, old stone remembers footsteps,
In Odesa, gulls wheel over sea;
And Carpathian forests hold
The scent of pine and liberty.
The blue-and-yellow colors fly
Above the squares, above the fields;
Not merely cloth, but sky and grain,
The living promise the land yields.
And from the soil where scars remain,
New grass will push through shattered stone;
For every home rebuilt by hand,
The country claims its future home.
Let trumpets fade. Let silence come.
Let children run where shadows stood.
Let Ukraine wake beneath the sun—
Gold wheat beneath a boundless blue.
