When The Walls Went Black Poem by Clifford Hewitt

When The Walls Went Black

In the darkness and in the pouring rain.
I can hear you, calling my name.
From a distance and through the thunder.
My life drains free.
Then quickly comes back to me.
The rush I have is so intense,
It sends me back to a time of bliss.

When the sun shown and the grass was grown.
You were here with me.
Our lives were anchored until this tragedy.
Now your soul lies in limbo and only rage grows,
To the love of my life,
I promise.
I will end this strife,
Honest.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem was done for a contest that is not over yet.

Contest second and final rounds contest- for first, second and third place by LaBelleVie
Prompt
I'll be sending a notification to the three writers that are going to be battling it out for the first place 1000 points prize...
What I want is a two stanza poem about the end of the world. The stanzas can not be any longer than 8 lines each.
How it is ending, what you're doing, where you are, what you're feeling, what someone else is feeling or doing, write all that sort of stuff... write about any of it or all of it.
Give me fear,
passion,
courage,
love,
anything!
Don't post the poem until you're sure it's the strongest it could ever be. Fret over it, there's 1000 points up for grabs here people.
Don't take it lightly.
Take a thousand deep-pondering walks and gain inspiration from wherever you can find it. Be unique, don't write an obvious poem about the end of the world, please, I'm over sheep. BE A GOAT.
Following the crowd and writing the obvious thing is the wrong thing to do in this situation.
Just saying...

No adult things cos I can't read that sort of stuff. It can be romance, just nothing too intimate.
Just stick to proper and appropriate grammar and punctuation, form and structure. No sticky caps or weird setting out.
I'm giving you a long leash, but be wise about what you do with it.
