When You & My Heart Met Poem by Libby Bechtel

When You & My Heart Met

Met you in my dreams
Seeked you out with my heart
Pulse like a beating drum;
Racing, running; free
I hid my key long ago
And yet somehow you crept slowly
And unlocked all that I have ever known

Holding our souls along with the fireflies in the Summer night skies
And time after time, we make the Sun & the Moon meet & smile,
Forgetting that they have been long parted
Rejoicing like old friends

*Now here I stand,
Waiting for you to fill my widening void once again,
But where are you?
Among the stars, just like our Summer nights?
Flowing over pebbles in the stream, like our voices during long talks?
Sitting atop the mountains, like our hearts when we smiled?

Time flies when you have everything to lose,
But our time wasn't wasted, just filled
If you want me, look through your crystal ball
And you'll always find me looking to the skys
Lost inside, losing my light, just like you did
But in the stars, a sea of colors is what I see
As I see you in my dreams
Seeking you out with my heart
Pulse beating like a drum;
Racing, running; free
