When You'Re Gone Poem by Majdoleen (Maggie) Sukayri

When You'Re Gone

Day after day you prove to me
That what we want could never be.
As I watch you sleep,
I see our story coming to its end.
And it's so hard for me to face
What's coming for us

If you look into my eyes,
You'll see that I fear a tomorrow without you.
This pain that I can't hide
Tells me that soon…
I would have to let you go.

This type of love only comes once.
And when it's gone, I'd never be the same.
When you're gone, whether it's tomorrow or after…
All I'd have left are memories.
Memories of how a great love could have been.
How we planned,
How we laughed,
How we shared dreams of better tomorrows.
How did I know that we'd never see those days?

But you have to know, when you do carry on,
You'll stay right here in my heart.
You'd live with me forever.
But for tonight… I still have you as mine.

Let's hope tomorrow won't come too soon.
