When You'Re High On Sin - Poem by MARINA GIPPS

When you’re high on sin after drinking wine,
it’s pretty festive…a small get together of two…
feeling so happy…I’m talking yesterday…

Late night on the eve of long-awaited anticipation…
and so it finally arrived…three hours too late
for dessert…I’m talking about the time you…

Took off your robe and aimed for the floor…
where I was waiting, wide eyed, too easy
to take notice my life ever happened…

And there we sat worshipping a fire
with revelations…feeding it the fuel
of all my startled ammunition…

As you lay there…drunk, depressed,
incensed and feverishly gone
in your old sway of spent things…
