When You Write From The Heart.... Poem by RIC BASTASA

you really know it when one speaks from the heart,
there is something there that you understand but cannot speak
because there is no word for it, as you spell it out, like
sincerity, but it is not enough, there is always more to it,
something like, but not really, almost there but not arriving,
an inch away from you yet you cannot touch still,
you try to touch but it slips like the way you kiss your beloved but there is still an empty space between your fusing lips.
it is a beautiful red rose, a full bloom sunflower, a bowl of
apples and peaches, clouds above mountains, it is you staring at the mountains, seeing a flight of white seagulls,
your heart is full and being so full it now starts to speak and
no one is listening.
