Where Are You Mother? Poem by Fiona Sunny

Where Are You Mother?

Where are you Mother in the break of day? –
I open my eyes only to see
The silent ceiling gazing at me
I do miss your smile to my dismay
For I witness changes on my way

Where are you Mother if not beside me? –
I sought you around the ’vergreen laurels
But was appalled by the droop of the dells
In your absence do we droop quietly
We miss our time that’s spent fretfully

Where are you Mother if not in gardens? –
I sought you among empty vessels
And among all of the grocer’s sells
Where are you Mother? – Not in kitchens
Not near my toys or feeding weak hens

Where are you Mother when dark hovers so? –
The ghosts’ cackle and chuckle I hear
Silence and venture’s aura I fear
I seek your shield to-day and morrow
As I know you’re there everywhere I go
Even though your breath doesn’t float here
I know your mind, heart and soul worry so.
