Where Are You Now? Poem by Aimee Rozen

Where Are You Now?

Rating: 5.0

The room around me is
empty
The smell of stale sex lingers in the air.
even after a week since
we last found ourselves
in each others arms.
The blue carpet
once gray with cigarette ash,
has been cleaned.
Those thick cream curtains that used to
hang over the window and
above our bed
have been removed.
The sunlight that is pouring in
reflects off the walls
bringing light to the corner of
our love cave.
Laughter echoes inside my head.
I taste salt.
Something far too familiar.
Memories known only by
me and you
and the four surrounding walls.
