Where Streets Are Gold (1) - Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Thanks be to God for giving me
The keys to life and love
For suffering to set me free
To enter life above

It’s wonderful to have no doubt
To have these eyes to see
Knowing what life is all about
And what is soon to be

Looking forward through Heaven’s Door
Beyond our common fight
To health, to wealth to spoils of war
And promised robe of Light

I’ll see The Lord I’ll see my King
I’ll see The Christ divine
I’ll hear His voice and angels sing
Eternal life is mine

I’ll hear my name ring loud and clear
Hear my God’s “Well done”
Heaven will sing “We’re pleased you’re here
With all your battles won”

I’ll jump I’ll shout I’ll sing and dance
I’ll kneel at Jesus’ feet
Thanking my God for this romance
And making my joy complete

I’ll see the saints who’ve gone before
Meet Peter, Paul and John
I’ll thank The Lamb who made me pure
Bright as the noon day sun

Full joy I’ll see The Promised Land
I’ll see those arms held wide
I’ll see the holes take hold His hand
And enter side by side
