I walked along a winding path,
Where stones were sharp and shadows deep;
The mind would weigh each careful step,
Yet left my restless heart to weep.
The river flowed with steady song,
It knew no reason, asked no plea;
Its waters spoke in quiet truth
More real than thought could ever see.
The flowers bent beneath the sun,
No logic guides their gentle bloom;
Yet in their fragile, fragrant life
I felt a warmth beyond all gloom.
The wind would stir the sleeping leaves,
It whispered things the mind denied;
A sorrow, joy, a tender hope—
All carried where mere words had died.
For intellect may chart the stars,
And measure worlds with careful hand;
But truth that lives within the soul
Can only bloom where hearts command.
So let the mind pursue its charts,
Its theorems, proofs, and reasoned art;
I'll follow where my spirit leads,
And honor truth that beats in heart.
