Where Were You? Poem by Deja Noelle Rupp

Where Were You?

Rating: 0.5

Where were you when I took my first steps?
When I fell and cut my knee
I cried while you ignored me
Where were you on my first day of school?
While my stomach growled you didn't pack my lunch the night before
Where were you when I lost my first tooth?
The pride and the twinkle in my little blue eyes
you shot me down telling me to go to bed the tooth fairy doesn't exist is what you always said
Where were you on my first day of ballet?
You never came to watch me
Not even when i begged
Where were you when I first road a bike?
I smiled and waved
As you walked back inside
Where were you went I went to my first dance?
How I burnt myself trying to curl my own hair
You were busy with that strange man downstairs
Where were you when my heart first got crushed?
How I cried myself to sleep
You stood and laughed at me
Where were you when I needed you most?
Through the good and the bad
I reached for your hand
You pulled it away
You should be ashamed
As I stand next to you now
I scream Where Were You Mother! ?
