'Where Were You...? ' Poem by Bimal Koul

Like the arid desert, waits for the rain.
Like an anxious child, waiting at the school gate.
a flower in harsh winter, waiting for spring to bloom,
When I was longing
for a hand to hold.
For a guide to the world
for some stories to be told
and for the life to unfold.
….where were you?

When my world was crumbling.
The emotions tearing me apart.
Running away like crazy, I was
and I had nowhere to go.
When I wished for a soothing voice to emerge
and say " I m there for you'
…..where were you?

The good times that have gone by.
The golden moments we didn't share.
The successes, we didn't celebrate.
The failures, we didn't analyse.
When in the ups and downs of life,
I wanted someone by my side.
….where were you?

The trust I see in your eyes.
The familiarity you share with me
the comfort I feel when with you
the confidence you instill in me.
And I guess I missed this all my life,
and now I wonder....where were you?

Now that I have you in my life.
As a guiding light, as a hope in sight.
As an oasis in desert, as a joy for a child,
as a moment to cherish, as a strength to hold on.
Now is the time for you to make up.
For the losses, and the misses and all.
So, send all ur love and care, and just declare
that "always you will be there for me"
make it needless to say " where were you? "
