Which Word? Poem by Catherine Casey

Which Word?

A character worth a paragraph
In bold italic font,
Was sent a text of invite
To the space bar Garamont.

As alias his proof.
Avoiding backstroke swim.
Abridging streams and constantans.
A letter brought with him.

Halfway through his cocktail
He came to a full stop.
An indent in the colon?
No, misspelling of Hale Bopp.

With re noun for charting comets
From deepest of dark space.
Spanning phonetic systems
At a dialectic pace.

When Asterix (named a satellite) .
The French indeed were glad.
Their accents gave par-enthessis
As it blasted off the pad.

His rules of craft traversing
What sum had just supposed.
The swirling clouds of Venus
In increments transposed.

When screen was turned toward him
To what the probe had found,
Came question on pronouncing
The new Venetian ground.

‘‘Long before papyrus
Was that, indeed invented,
Here is whence terrain of love
From longings were cemented.

I think I’ll call it ‘Keyboard’.
Full circle we have come.
From steaming vents of passion
To somewhere to click your thumb! ’’

On Chanselise or Comic Sands
There is a held cognition:
Inspiration goes with wine.
(Anglo/French the supposition) .

In true Parisian fashion
He’s toasted now in deuxs.
‘‘Messieur Le Keybord - bottoms up!
This round is payé par vous! ’’
