While My Love Sleeps Poem by Perry Biggerstaff

While My Love Sleeps

Rating: 5.0

I pray for supernatural strength
to hold on to the night,
and force away the morning mists
that come with dawns first light.
I'm a willing prisoner, gladly caught,
holding to a dream
that is breathing here beside me
...breathing deeply here beside me
...causing midnight tears to gleam

I am a man. Strong yet fragile.
With hopes and fears to lead,
yet be your fantasy and your desire,
your religion and your creed.
I close my eyes, feel your warmth
and pray the sun should fail.
I’ll take this moment
...cherish THIS moment
...over the riches of heaven and hell,

A lesser man may not be worthy,
a stronger man too weak,
but willing to sacrifice all he has
and all a man would seek.
Understanding that here, right now
lies riches beyond measure.
Your love, your perfect love
...my yearning
...my yearning and my treasure.

I lay willingly upon loves alter
and wish with all my might,
to somehow duplicate this moment,
if my will can’t stop the night.
I'll soak in scent and sight and touch,
and listen to you sigh.
I'm lost, so wonderfully lost
...willingly lost
...in a worship induced high.
