Whispered Screams Poem by kendyll brown

Whispered Screams

I saw a girl break today
fingers shaking from clentched fists
with love, sharing
stories about how it's diferent

her eyes from the way of life or
of home away from heart, and he dropped
her cigarette, wet
coated with the sweat and tears of indecision

she cried. not with sobs,
or the sharp pains of lonely breathing,
but with a shiver in her muscles
skin on fire,
ice in her eyelashes
each pupil a soul to save

and then her face
deflated,
hanging onto existance
by the breath of two tears
patiently dying,
she wiped them away
