White Cliff Poem by Ell Stone

White Cliff

There we were, side by side,
White cliffs in your eyes crashing waves in mine
Close together despite the great divide.
Walking along,
the edge of the world in one straight line.
You were affraid to fall but I enjoyed the view.
together we could,
have started anew.
I was affraid to leave, you had become my all
Together we could have jumped in the deep,
before the summer would fall.
Before you would have been submerged in the water,
Before the leaves lost their green,
We could have stayed there, we could have been,
In the place where white walls rise above, and nothing below,
But us and our love.
