Who Am I Poem by Andrea Valles Mata

Who Am I

There are many questions
We get asked everyday
What is this and how is that?
Can you show me the way?
But there is a little question
Baffling, and yet quite simple
That whirls and swirls and returns in curls,
And makes my brain quite nimble.
Who am I?
Andy, Andrea, Mum or Honey,
With my face so bright and my smile so sunny.
But will a rose if called by some other name not smell as sweet?
Just call me "hey you! " and my fist you will meet.
But sweet I am, and loving and caring,
With cookies and cakes to class I come bearing.
I am very smart; I know all my stuff,
But better than that I know how to bluff,
I'm a joker, a clown, I love a good laugh
But don't mess with my kids
I'll break you in half!
A mother am I, but also a daughter,
One who was frequently in a lot of hot water.
I was frequently naughty, I could be very bad,
The thing was I had, such a wonderful Dad!
It was his actions you see,
That taught me to be
The person I am today
I never give up, I never say die
Even when all I want is to sit down and cry.
Things could have been better
But I know I am blessed
My family is healthy, and I'm always well dressed.
Fashion may not be my forte,
As my figure is hardly what you would call sportey!
I may not be famous, but I know what is love
From my friends and my family and my God up above
I may not be rich, but I have all I need
I am strong, I am wise, I know how to lead.
I'm a student and a teacher, I'm a parent and a child,
Sometimes so weak, sometimes so wild.
I'm a giver, a taker, a maker and breaker.
A creation so perfect, A creation so flawed
So who am I?
I'm an awesome child of God!
