Who Do We Look To Poem by Bekah Tav.

Who Do We Look To

The girl,
Who takes the pills at night.
And in darkness tries to find,
The right prescription,
Though it isn’t hers.
With parents in bed,
She tips back her head,
Takes a few of each,
Then goes to bed and waits,
For the buzz in her head,
To tell her she’s awake..
We live in a broken world,
With so many broken people,
So many hurting girls,
What has happened to our world?
What are we to do?
When the good and trusty are few,
Who do we look to..
Who do we look to?
The girl,
Who cuts so deep,
And in so many places,
That trying to sleep,
Is near impossible.
With all her pain,
And nothing else to do,
She takes a knife,
And carves in
“F this life”
When no one can know,
And parents that
Never see,
And never question,
Why she wears long sleeves,
There is not one place,
On her body that is pure,
Free of the knife,
That has given her the cure.
We live in a broken world,
With so many broken people,
So many hurting girls,
What has happened to our world?
What are we to do?
When the good and trusty are few,
Who do we look to..
Who do we look to?
The little child,
That sees all the magazines,
Thinking they are beautiful,
Wanting to look like them,
Cause wow, they seem to fit right in.
She looks in the mirror,
Picks out what she doesn’t like,
Then heads for the toilet,
And messes up her young fragile life…
We live in a broken world,
With so many broken people,
So many hurting girls,
What has happened to our world?
What are we to do?
When the good and trusty are few,
Who do we look to..
Who do we look to?
