Who Do You Love? Poem by Kathlene Ann

Who Do You Love?

This feeling you and I call 'love'
is not that which I thought it was.
A clever comment from a friend
Now has me questioning all earth's (wo) men.

When people say 'I love you so! '
I don't think they truly know
The person that they think they love
Is but a friend they but above
Themselves.

When thou sayst, 'I love thee, '
I know now what you truly mean:
You love the you that cares for me.
A lover's what we all should be.

When men or women love another
He or she acts selflessly.
One likes oneself when they're not free
To be bad as they usually be.

The truth is that I love not you.
The truth is that
I love me!
