Why am I afraid of death?

And seek acceptance?

Have you ever seen the city by night?
Seen civilization at it’s height?
Been overwhelmed by many a headlight?
And wondered what it would be like…

The feeling is common but temporary.
Or is it? Is life what it seems?
People yawn and laze and complain.
People say they've nothing to do.

So weak.
I don't understand.
My mind is clear,
I know where I stand.

The written word is my chosen form of expression.
Then why, with it, can't I let go of emotion?
I am overwhelmed by feelings, so confused.
My heart and mind are in discord. My soul feels abused.

In human nature the seven deadly sins are always present, though they often hide.
Sloth, Gluttony, Lust, Envy, Greed, Wrath and Pride.
Passion was sown into human nature at birth
So the race would continue to populate this earth.

I had a dream that told of love,
But love I do not think it was.
Maybe curiosity.
That's what my dream may truly be.
