Who I Am Poem by Destiny Arroyo

Who I Am

I have so many regrets
It fills up a whole cup
I'll never forget
the times I've messed up
the people I've hurt
and the ones I've lost
now I just have to drink that cup
because the world just tells me to shut up
I drown in my sorrows
knowing there might not be a tomorrow

I'm a bundle sadness
You can't see it though
I'm masking it with smiles and happiness
It's the best facade you've ever seen though
Cannot see the cracks in my mask
You cannot hear how my voice cracks
I stay as quiet as a mouse
Too scared of the backlash
What my thoughts would bring
Should I ever try to speak what I think

Let's go back to the end
When nothing matters anymore
I cannot feel a thing
I feel like a puppet on strings
I'm a bird in a cage with clipped wings
I am a marionette doll who'll never sing
