Who I Want To Be Poem by Lance K...

Who I Want To Be

Lance K.

An old teacher had once asked me
Hey kid what do you want to be
I stop right there and thought for awhile
And what I seen made me smile
Who I want to be
It’s fine with me
If I could have one wish
It’d be just like this

Driving home back from work
Heading there wasn’t going nowhere
To get home to my loving family
Trying hard not to travel too far
Just another day where I can look up at the sky
And damn I’m blessed with the life I’d buy

Time cut short a couple years ago
Now it’s been five since that night
And all the friends and people I’ve met
Have showed me something I’ll never forget
It’s just no matter where you go
Your always gonna know
That it’s that night where you were thinking real fine
In the back of that truck
That was stuck in a rut
Nothing but a smile that could last for awhile
Just thinking of that girl
That meant the world
And the kids I see down the road
The life I’d never fold

With that job that’s staying for awhile
Enough to support the path I wrote
Just another day just think for awhile
The day that I think of what’d I see
The day I know of what I’m going to be.
