Why (1) Poem by nadia abduljabbar

Why (1)

Why do I write?
Why do I care
For people whom
I never met
And may
Never meet.
Those whom I don’t
Benefit from.

Some are dead
Some are alive still,
Why do I have such a passion?

For many days I
Was contemplating
The reason or rather
Philosophy behind
My enthusiasm
And WHY I
Care to tell
The WORLD about ICONS
As such,
Whether they were
Muslims or not.

Why do I write about
Thomas Hardy
And the British
Supervisor of my M.A
Thesis who worked
In Jeddah.

As I write about
Manal Omar,
Albotty, Algefry,
Osama Alazhary,
Mo’ez Mas’oud, Mostafa
Hosny and Amr Khalid.

Why I go through
Pain as such;
To analyse intellectuals’
Motives.

My philosophy and for
Those who object
To using the word-
What is life or
Even RELIGION without
PHILOSOPHY? ! ! !

By philosophy I mean
The meaning behind
Things that is not
That clear to mundane
People or persons
In the street.
It is the meaning between
Lines. MY Philosophy
Is that it is a human
And religious duty
To write about emblems
Of courage, principles,
Knowledge and care.

Those people represent
Good urge to educate
People throgh the media;
They are concerned
To enlighten populace and
Youngsters’ minds,
They think of the importance
Of the intellect and croweds’
Ability to think confidently.

I was a teacher and lecturer,
I loved my students; I
Cared to develop their
Mentality and I feel happy
When they contact me
From Britin and USA
And other countries
Saying they don’t forget
My words and teaching.

In the same time
I appreciate so much
Anyone who teaches me
And believe I should
demonstrate my gratitude;
For ‘who does not thank
People does not thank
God or Allah’ so said
Mohammad the prophet
Of Islam.
