Why Amman? ?
You compel me to have contradictory
Feelings for you why,
Why my Amman,
...
Qur’an is the holy book
Of Muslims and for Humanity,
It sands in a middle position between
The Old Testaments and The Bible;
...
I am neither a Celtic,
Who lived in ancient Britain,
Nor am I an Arian,
Or a Normandy whose ancestors
...
I apologize to all my readers-
The very young as well
As the elderly ones-
In the whole world: in India,
...
Find for yourself
A beloved, a family;
A home, or at least a mate,
Before it is too late,
...
I am done with liars,
As well as cheaters,
I am done with people
Who give promises
...
Let’s stop playing hide and seek,
It is so dumb,
let’s stop pretending,
I am beginning to feel numb,
...
Man in my life
Is a prisoner of a poem
Or rather a song;
He rarely exceeds the limit,
...
With eyes full of tears,
With ears that became
Semi deaf from
Hearing bad news,
...
Five days after
Thy leaving to the upper
World, thou visited
Me in a vision,
...
Reunion is all what we need
In this gloomy life,
To regain our cheerfulness,
Reunion between heart and mind,
...
I am trembling out of anxiety,
For in two or three weeks’ time,
I will be flying to
Eastern Region
...
I sold my semi knew
Camry car,
And kept the old one,
A Volvo that can not be
...
TO THE SOUL OF MY MOTHER

I am a liberal Muslim woman from Makkah(Mecca) . By liberal, I mean I am free from traditions and customs that wear the mask of religion, but they are far from the essence of Faith in reality. I was a university lecturer for about 29 years, but took an early retirment to be free to read and write poetry. I published my first collection of English poetry and its translation into Arabic in 2003. I was the first Saudi female writer in IWP(International Writing Program) in Iowa city in 2005. I began to read and love poetry since I was a child, and have some attempts to write Arabic poetry when I was a teenager. I began to write English poetry about fifteen years ago. I write and read poetry when I am happy and when I am sad and whether I am healthy or sick. Poetry for me is like air for the lungs; it is the breeze that my very being needs to breath; to live. Poetry is my most intimate friend, my passionate beloved, my loving family, my honest psychiatrist and my additional identity)
Amman My Unrequited Love
Why Amman? ?
You compel me to have contradictory
Feelings for you why,
Why my Amman,
Why do I love you
And fear you
In the same time?
Why do I long to see
You and once I reach
Your semi green valleys and mountains,
I feel so confused? !
Why my dear city
You insist to kill my soul?
Is it because the memories
Of my happy and adventurous
Youth is buried in your soil,
Or because my last love
Has become part of your dust?
You were once our meeting point
But you refused to open your arms
Or heart
For us and we were lost in the Wilderness.
Why Amman you look
Like a prison of walls
To me now?
While once you were my gate
To happiness and freedom,
Why materialistic ways of living
Is killing your people who once
Looked so intellectual and liberal
Why is it killing them
As jealousy killed my best friends
Who were living on your land
Who changed just like you
with the passage of time;
With the years
Of absence? !
Where are your green sceneries,
Where have they disappeared,
Why could the hand of time
Change you to a sterile land,
Why my first beloved city
After my homeland,
Why my wonderful home
You put an end
To all of my dreams and hopes
Of whatever is beautiful
Of whatever charmed
My heart and MIND? ? ? ? ! ! !
Happy new year to one unique hijazi lady.
