Why - Poem by Sherin Johnson

Why did I see you?
Why did I meet you?
Why did I care for you?
Why did I love you?

Days have elapsed,
Nights have faded,
But the answer to all my why,
Still remains a why.

Why did you look at me?
Why did you greet me?
Why did you bother about me?
Why did you befriend me?

Hours have concluded,
Minutes have eluded,
But the answer to all my why,
Still remains a why.

Why did we draw near?
Why did my heart tear?
Why did you bruise me?
Why I felt you used me?

Moments have ceased,
Breaths have decreased,
But the answer to all my why,
Still remains a why.

Why couldn't you love me?
Why didn't you stop me?
Why do you play with me still?
Why do I love you still?

Now when time has answered all my why,
Now when my heart has learnt to stop to cry,
Why do you want to come back?
Why do you want me back?
