I wonder if he noticed
the laundry folded,
the trash taken out,
the litter box scooped,
the cat fed and watered,
The dogs let out,
the floor and carpet cleaned.
I doubt it.
But he did notice I was off.
He did ask.
When I told him,
he didn't like my answer.
Why ask,
if you weren't going to listen?
Why ask,
if you're just going to get defensive?
Why ask,
if it's going to ruin the night?
Why ask,
if it makes you turn away,
silent,
and fall asleep without a word?
Why?
