Why Can’t You See Poem by Elizabeth Clement

Why Can’t You See

Rating: 5.0

Can’t you see her melting,
Drowning in your eyes.
Wishing you would save her,
From this nothing she’s become.
The one who hides behind the pages of a book,
With her glasses on the tip of her nose.
Don’t you see the pain it brings,
To her eyes,
To see you with the other girl.
Don’t you see,
How you rip her heart out,
Piece by piece.

I know you have eyes.
So why can’t you see,
Her inner beauty,
Like all her friends can.
You must be a jerk.
Not to understand,
How one simple word “hi”
Can make her day,
Coming from you.
So why can’t you see,
That you hurt her so deep,
That she may never be the same person we all know,
The one who see the world differently than you or I.
