Why Didn't You Notice? Poem by Nathan Delgado

Why Didn't You Notice?

Didn't you notice what I kept?
Didn't you notice the pain that crept?
Didn't you feel something breaking?
Didn't you feel someone hurting?

I can't always hide myself in the dark
The pain feels like I got bitten by a shark
A pain that could never be understood
A pain that made me the only one who last stood

Can't you see how I got hurt?
Can't you see the tears I have on my shirt?
Can't you see how I felt betrayed?
Can't you understand the pain I portrayed?

I'm fading and I'm fading pretty quick
The pain that bit me like a tick
A cry could never fix this
You know you're the only one who could fix this

I'm sensitive and weak
I can't believe pain started this week
I can't believe how vulnerable I am with you
I can't believe my weakness would be you

But I saw you happy with someone else
I was fixing you while I was the one who needed fixing too
I was too busy helping you that I forgot how to help myself
The pain is unbearable, every second it grows

But then again, it already happened, the moment is gone
There's a lot of things that will happen soon
But now you know how weak I am as I swoon
Now you know I'm not prepared for everything.
