Why Do I Love You? Poem by M. A Heathcote

Why Do I Love You?

Why do I love you?
Because I can.
I love you without manipulation or control.
I love you without understanding.
Without questions or answers
I will love you today and equally so tomorrow.

I will love you always.
Like entanglement, our atoms
Will never completely know.
Separation again.

Therefore, I will love you knowingly.
We will not always share the same space amicably.
The same appreciation of each other
But once you've been my lover,
I'll swear here and now I will love you the same forever.
