Why do sheep lay down their lives?
Is it because they're afraid, they can't protect their wife?
is it because they can't sleep, when too many come to mind?
As day turns to night, a sheep is sure to give up its life.
But why, I say why?
As the day turns to night this phrase comes to mind
Mary had a little lamb its sheep was white as snow.
And everywhere Mary went its sheep was sure to go.
Then a thought came to mind.
A powerful statement and one of a kind
To answer the question just popped in my mind.
Why do sheep lay down their lives?
Then I knew why, I knew why.
It's because of the shepherd came to mind.
He feeds them, he leads them, he defends them from all kinds.
Why do sheep lay down their lives?
It's because they trust the shepherd, with all of his mind.
It's because they're not afraid of the night nor all its fright.
It's because of the sword of the shepherd in all its might.
It's because of these things I kept going over and over,
Throughout the dusk until the morning light.
As day turns to night, a sheep is sure to give up its life.
I knew why, I knew why.
I lye now counting the sheep.
that I pondered and laundered that squandered my sleep.
sleeping very well the rest of the night.
It's the shepherd with all his might, he's watching me… tonight.
