Why Fear Death? Poem by Stephen Olufemi Omolara

Why Fear Death?

In the quiet depths of night, I ponder deep,
Why does death's specter cause my heart to leap?
For in its grasp, I know, lies the final bend,
Yet still, I tremble at its whispered blend.

Is it the darkness that cloaks its embrace,
Or the unknown void where souls find their place?
Why does the thought of end instill such dread,
When life itself is but a thread?

A paradox it seems, this mortal plight,
To fear the end, yet know it as our right.
But perhaps in facing death, we find our strength,
To embrace the unknown, regardless of its length.

So let us not be shackled by our fear,
But embrace the end when it draws near.
For in its quiet whisper, we may find,
The peace and solace of a well-spent mind.
