Why do people ask questions about my mum and dad?
Why is it that I hate my life?
When all I see is a girl holding a knife.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
So I have been going through a rough 5 years and I used to self harm and this is one thing I just didn't see why people made such a big thing when they found out about it. I understood that it's the way I learnt to cope with things and that everyone deals with things differently I just wished that other people could see the same thing.

This is a fairly common theme here on PoemHunter. Usually it is younger females who describe it as a coping mechanism or as a way of feeling some sense of control, but lament the misunderstandings of others for their actions. I think that writing about it is a good start to healing. Thanks for sharing, Naomi and keep writing. Peace
