Why So Wise My Little One? Poem by Norine Blankenship

Why So Wise My Little One?

Rating: 5.0

Why so wise my little one,
Once I held you with only wondering eyes,
now, not nearly grown, your words are wise,
your eyes are bright, and now your mind, not eyes
wonder in peer delight with words and songs
of love and peace. Why so wise my little one?
Words dance, not walk across your mind,
gently gracing the pages with love and pain.
Life is still a wonder, the pen guiding your very path.
Allow it to guide you, never decieve you and answer my prayer,
Why so wise my little one.

To my beautiful talented niece, a poet in her own right.
Nini loves you Alyssa

Just like we are, this poem is short, small and sweet. And as they say, great things come in small packages. This poem is amazing as are we and we can not let the fact of size override the fact of meaning. This poem has so much meaning. I apreciate ur words more that you will ever imagine. I feel so honored for someone that means so much in my life to actually say that about me and my poetry. I truly admire your passion for poetry and writing and I look up to you so much. I can say so much more but I cant find the right words that can explain how much this poem means to me. I love you auntie. And thank you for this poem.
