Wide Awake Poem by Tammi Celina Lyons

Wide Awake

Seems like it was yesterday
Woken up from a nightmare
My dreams become reality
And life seems to not move on
Wide awake

My heart is pounding
My body's aching
My life is ending
And you're still pretending
Wide awake

The stars are fading
Life is pausing
From my pain
And I don't get this
Love that disappeared
Wide awake

My dreams are turning bad
You can take everything I have
My head is spinning
Spinning bullets
Wide awake

This heart has been burned inside
What am I supposed to do outside?
My life seems like it's ending
And I can't take this pain anymore
This heart has woken
It's pounding beautifully
I'm wide awake

My heart is pounding
My body's aching
My life is ending
And you're still pretending
Wide awake

Seems like it was yesterday
Woken up from a nightmare
My dreams become reality
And life seems to not move on
Wide awake
