Wife Is A Child Woman Poem by Sundaram Krishnaswamy

Wife Is A Child Woman

When we married,
She was just out of college.
She was a child woman.
When I asked why she is not crying,
When her parents were sending her off with me,
Like other girls of her age,
She held my hand and looking at my eyes,
She whispered,
'When you are with me, why I should cry? '.
In large gatherings, when I am standing far away,
She searches me like a child lost in the crowd,
And when I reach home in the evenings,
She comes running outside with a smile in the face.
Like a child who sees the toffee in the father's hand.
Which makes me forget the problems of the day.
Is she my child?
The question is answered when she takes charge
of me, my children and treats me as her eldest child.
When I hide the mistakes with lies,
I turn into the child quietly listening,
to her harsh words of advise.
When I lie on the bed, after switching off the lights,
She comes near me and sleeps on my shoulder always,
Turning into a child again.
The Kingdom of God awaits the children, Jesus said.
Heaven on Earth awaits the couples who turn children everyday.
