Wildflower Poem by C M Rice

Wildflower

Noticed it was so splendid from all,
Distracted, Inspired, worries let fall,
Stopped in my path, gazing eyes open wide,
Fixated in awe arms by one’s side,

Idea appears – shall I pluck to keep?
No need with its image soaking so deep,
Upon my mind – she glows, simply stays,
Never to be lost in a clouded haze,

Tranquil, free it sways in morning breeze,
Buzzing is heard with rustling trees,
They land on her softly – place to rest,
Finally they are; a wanted pest,

The sky seems dull it frowns upon me,
Yet not on this simple precious beauty,
Curious I kneel – wonderstruck calm,
Breath-taking petal held in my palm,

Inhaled, Savoured by all of the soul,
The heartbeat quickens as my thoughts stroll,
Now I smile yet a sorrow hangs near,
Hand released – reality I hear,

I rise, feeling but a little sad,
Yet grateful of the moment I’ve just had,
I will come past to see her again,
As bitter winds blow inviting rain,

Now I have found it – this wondrous cheer,
Only for me so I can hold dear,
Look at the clock, five minutes - an hour,
It doesn’t matter – does it wildflower?
