Will Have Us To Blame Poem by Francis Duggan

Will Have Us To Blame

The longest lived human life in time not a long span
On average a few years more for a woman than it is for a man
Death is for all mortals just like you and i
But Mother Earthwho does feed us she will never die
What we do to our Earth Mother to our own selves we do
This applies to everyone and everyone includes me and you
When we pollute the oceans the waterways and land
That we are harming ourselves some of us do not underdstand
The people of the future when we are long dead
Will suffer for our environmental sins in the decades ahead
For the hardships they will endure they will have us to blame
Yet for our abuse of our Earth Mother so few of us feel any sense of shame
But the Earth that feeds every life form will be living on
Long after the last human being from the World has gone.
