Win We Poem by Teressa Waters

Win We

When we’re wise with human knowledge
Draped with scholarly sashes
When we move by fleshly ree-sn
And surpass earthly matches,
When we play games with our lives and
Move our bishops and horses
When we build up our own fate and
THEN chart out ‘r own courses…

THEN we wonder why we can’t get
O’er the wall that has stopped us
Try’n to tear through harden mortar
With our wisdom and knowledge
We re-arrange His com-mands by
Adding to and subtracting
Taking on His au-thor-ri-ty
That’s just how e be act-tin

Deut’ronmy4 – 6 n 7 says
We show wisdom to nations
When we observe His decrees
With understanding and patience
It tells us God will draw near us
Every time we pray to Him
If we look for Him with our heart
Giv’em the praise that is due Him

When we judge with con-dem-nation
Cast’n our broth’rs in the fire
When we seek for man’s approval
Cuz it’s glory we desire
When we cross the street to a-void
All the people in the gutter
When we ‘xcuse our rude be-havior
Act’n like they ain’t our brother

When we look down on others, and
Show ourselves unapproved, and
When we tug at their speck, when it’s
Our board that protrudes, and
When we ig-nore the call that
Wisdom makes in the street,
We act all simple and foolish
And don’t give way to her speech

The book of Proverbs is knowledge,
And wisdom, and understanding
When we shun the world’s evil, and
Follow what God’s demanding
When we pre-serve dis-cern-ment
Don’t let it out – of – our sight
That’s when our neck is draped with grace
We prove to be the Lord’s delight

First CORIN chapter One says
We look foolish to the dying
But to us who are saved, we look
To them and start crying
Just like Jesus wept – we weep too
Cuz of the life they choose to live
They turn their back on the love of God
And the gift He freely gives

Saints, when we sit at His feet and
When we drink from His fountain
And take His word to the street, and
Use our faith to push mountains,
And when we lift up our eyes and
See our help from high hills, and
Then we know His eye guides, so
Wear your armor and chill

When we know that He’s returning
And we know He’s coming soon
When we wash our robes and wait for Him
Beside the empty tomb, and
When we look to Him, the author
N’ finish’r of our fate
When we listen for our name, and
March right through the Pearly Gates

That’s when we win this life’race, and
When we win the golden crown
That’s when we see the Lord’s face, and
Fall prostrate and bow down
That’s when we win the Lord’s FAVOR
And climb in His lap and rest
That’s when we win the right to savor
Cuz we’ll be caught up from this mess!

That’s when we win….
