Wind In My Head Poem by Rue Palmer

Wind In My Head

Wind in My Head

There's a wind in my head, and it won't let me rest,
A storm of thoughts beating hard in my chest.
Whispers like leaves in an old haunted tree,
It's the sound of the past still chasing me.

It howls through the halls of memory's gate,
Spinning old moments I'd hoped would abate.
Dreams scatter like ash in the breath of the breeze,
Truths curl and drift like smoke through the trees.

No peace in the quiet, no still in the calm,
This wind holds no mercy, offers no balm.
It tumbles through questions with answers unsaid,
A cyclone of silence inside of my head.

But maybe it's life trying to speak in disguise,
Pushing me forward, clearing the skies.
And when it grows soft like a lullaby's hum,
I'll know that the healing has finally come.
