Window Poem by Mekale Clifton

Window

He left for Vietnam
just a week after their wedding.
That's what has caused her pain.
She sits in his chair and looks through me.

She cleans me everyday
to keep her vision of the outside clear.
She cries and looks through me.
Her worry can not be obscured
from the outside looking in
even when I am dirty.
