Winning Is Jus Half The Battle Poem by Jus Collins

Winning Is Jus Half The Battle

I’ m in a battle-
an unrelenting war
with an unforgivable love
unwilling to compromise
the truth with reality
lies are uniformed with gun and shield
transformed into dishonest conformity
seduced with words
held bondage by barbwired promises
kissed with concrete lips
held in the embrace of broken arms
made love to on a bed of broken glass
'the glass' always half empty
never full
but silly me
I continue to pour
more of what I can no longer afford-
damn near on empty
I have no more ammo
the white flag is being raised
I have conceded this race
and ready to face
the dark side of this shadow
lurking is the light-
I choose to love freely
I have given up this fight,
this war,
this struggle…
We have won the battle,
Love and I…
