Winter Poem by Courtney Shanahan

Winter

A sheet of ice on the road
Like a frozen lake

A tree covered in icing sugar
Just picture perfect

That flower trying to come to life
Through the deeps of the icy earth

Smoke in the air
Blazing fires inside that door

The kettle at work to create a hot snack
That feeling when it warms the inside of your body

That snowflake lands on your hand
The beauty of the shape

Everything is so still, unmoveable
A winter to remember
