Wisdom arrived not clothed in sudden light,
Nor announced by triumph, loud and clear;
It came like dusk that softens day to night,
Unseen until its gentler truths appear.
It settled in through unanswered demand,
Through lessons time refused to neatly frame;
The heart let go what it could not command,
And learned the cost of every chosen name.
Where once desire insisted on its way,
Now patience listened, careful and restrained;
The need to conquer slowly slipped away,
And deeper sight by waiting years was gained.
Thus wisdom came without a mark or sound:
We woke one day, and knew ourselves more bound.
