With Slow Steps And Heart Racing Poem by Sylvia Lukeman

With Slow Steps And Heart Racing

Rating: 5.0

With slow steps and her heart racing
she made her way to where he soon would be.
She wanted to savour every moment
for after tonight she would never be free.

She knew every inch of the road
and how he would look when they met tonight.
Yet she lingered and slowed down as he came into view;
intense were her feelings as she shivered with delight.

As he approached her, to her surprise
he too made slow steps and had a quickening heart.
When at last they were able to embrace
He hoped that they never would part.

And she saw those eyes again
green grey crystals and like hers shining too.
Oh! how she had longed for this moment
and the wondrous things they would do.

Slowly getting nearer and her heart seemed to stand still,
his arms were around her now, her emotions began to spill
and how tender he was as their lips met and they shared a passionate kiss
our protagonist wondered - has anyone ever experienced such bliss as this.
