With Words That Know Poem by Jonathan Bellmann

With Words That Know

Comfort you with words that know
The truth of heart and soul
Lamenting as a flower withers so?
Place aside a cherished thought,
A quiet place to be,
Then welcome it once you’ve crossed
A turbulent and stormy sea.
Capture briefly the breath of day
Filled to overflowing with youthful stride
With heartfelt yearning that never fades away.
Remember how your mother held you,
A shelter from all fear then placed you closely
To herself and told you she was near.
When you found yourself disheartened
And cried out for some help, do you not recall
The hand of God guiding you through it all?
No wisdom can impart the true comfort
That comes from Christ;
Washed in His blood He gives us eternal life.
