Within Poem by Tracy Galloway

Within

In the deep of the soul
In the root of the soil
You were always within
Waiting
To breathe life into my shell
A promise unknown
As quietly my hope devolved
To dust
To loss
A sure breath lilted through hollow form
Your eyes closed
My faith nervous
The limb beneath
Unsteady
I reached for what has always held me
Always known me
Eyes wide and blind until you
Until your care
Sifted through ruins of sallow past
You relieved me of toil
And hushed my pain
Replacing all with a warm winded chorus
Resounding
Rebuilding
With the limb climbed and offered
You formed a great hall
In my wasted worn depth
And filled every space
With joy
With calm
With life
With your selfless melody
Composed of my heart
